BREAD PUDDING

Ingredients:

4 plain white Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns, or other white bread

8 eggs

3 cups sugar, (you can cut sugar to 2 or 2 1/2 cups

4 cups whole milk (Or canned evaporated milk, or half & half in any combination…the richer the better)

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

1 cup margarine or butter, melted

Soaked raisins are optional

Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place crumbled broken buns in a buttered 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Option: You can add raisins to bottom of the pan before the bread pieces. For added flavor, soak them in rum/bourbon overnight.

Make custard: Combine eggs and sugar, blending well. Add milk, vanilla, and margarine. Beat with mixer. Pour custard mixture over buns. Bake 30 minutes at 400°. Depending on your oven 30 minutes may not be long enough. Bake it until a knife slides out without having any runny residue left on it.

RUM SAUCE

1 cup confectioners sugar (sometimes I add a little brown sugar)

2 tablespoons melted butter

1 teaspoon real rum or ¼ teaspoon rum extract or as much as you like. Bourbon works too.

Add any type milk to make as runny as desired.

Serve the sauce on the side or add sauce to each serving. Serves 8-10. Bon Appetit!
