The Western Carolina Civic Orchestra presents the annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, in the School of Music Recital Hall (Coulter building) on the Western Carolina University campus.

The program features harpist John Wickey, performing Danse sacrée et danse profane by Claude Debussey. It also includes the premiere of a new work, “Blue Ridge Triptych,” composed by the Civic Orchestra’s conductor, WCU School of Music faculty member Damon Sink. Other selections include music by Mozart, Ravel and Lauren Bernofsky.

WCU campus policy requires the wearing of masks in all indoor spaces at all times, and concertgoers are asked to continue to observe social distancing practices.

The WCU School of Music sponsors the orchestra, which also receives support from the Jackson County Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, so that the concert is free and open to the public.

The Orchestra includes members from around Western North Carolina, including amateur, student and professional players; and welcomes new playing members each year. For more information, call the School of Music at 227-7242.
