The monthly Creating Community Workshop is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29 in the Atrium of the Jackson County Public Library.

Artist trading cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist trading cards are 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm) in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards).

They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance.

Attendees should wear old clothes or bring an apron. Materials will be provided, but if you have any pictures or other 2-D objects that would fit on a 2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches card, please feel free to bring them.

Teacher Helen Vance is a relative newcomer to the area, from northern Virginia.

This class is limited to 10 participants. For more information or to sign up for the class call 586-2016 or stop by the Reference Desk. This event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Jackson County Public Library. The Jackson County Public Library is a member of Fontana Regional Library (www.fontanalib.org).
