Smoky Mountain Competition Cheer competed at the Finale-Cheer and Dance National Championship held April 29-30 at the Jekyll Island (Ga.) Convention Center. The following cheerleaders competed as a solo/duo/trio performance: Avalee Dills, first, solo; Haley Welch, second, solo; Sarah Rondel, first, solo; Maelyn Jowers, second, solo; Miah Jenkins, first, solo; Blakely and Dorsey Bailey, first, duo; Maddie Hendershott, first, solo; Morgan Deetz, first, solo; Gracie Elliott and Kaden Martini, first, duo; Zayda Dewantara, Shayla Dewantara and Addie Simonds, first, trio. Those placing first received a trophy and a national champion ring. The Sassy Pearls (ages 3-4) received zero deductions for their routine, won first place in their division and received national champion rings. The Sparkling Gems (ages 6 and under) received zero deductions for their routine, won first place in their division and received national champion rings. The Blue Diamonds (ages 10 and under) received zero deductions for their routine, won second place in their division and received the award for the Best Dance of their session. The Royal Onyx (ages 14 and under) received zero deductions for their routine and won second place in their division. The Senior Sapphires (ages 18 and under) received zero deductions for their routine, won first place in their division and received national champion rings. The Purple Amethysts, the program’s cheer abilities team, won first place and received national champion rings.
