Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.

Judge Rick Walker presided at a session mainly for traffic cases Oct. 12, and Judge Donna Forga presided at a session for other cases Oct. 13.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Oct. 12

Kristina McNeal Vatcher, 36, Bo Cove Road, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

David Brian Ward, 66, Tilley Creek Road, Cullowhee, was found guilty of driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 36 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve seven days active time, pay fine of $300 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, defendant appealed.

Oct. 13

Taylor Nathaniel Woodring, 19, Gardenia Lane, Sylva, assault on a female, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, obtain mental health evaluation and have no contact with victim.

Richard Daniel Bird II, 45, Kamama Drive, Cherokee, injury to personal property, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Walmart; two counts larceny, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation.

Dawnina Maia Jump, 23, Bryson City, was found in violation of probation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days activated.

Heather MacMorran James, 31, Old Mission Road, Whittier, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated successfully, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Kim James Childress, 66, Kirk Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 15 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.

Wayne Stewart Bailey, 47, Almond, admitted to violation of court order, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Natasha Belle Kirkland, 32, A Model Drive, Whittier, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, fined $50 and costs and ordered to attend drug education class, given credit for seven days served.

Amber Crowe, 33, Phillip Owle Sr. Drive, Whittier, admitted to a probation violation, probation extended 12 months, ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Zachary Martin Bombay, 26, Blockhouse Road, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated, given credit for 105 days served; admitted to another count of probation violation, probation continued.

Darrien Michael Carver, 23, Asheville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days to run concurrently with other sentence being served.

Oct. 2

One misdemeanor case was heard Oct. 2 during a session mainly for minor traffic violations presided over by Judge Roy Wijewickrama:
