A term of Jackson County Superior Court convened Aug. 12 at the Justice Center with Judge Brad Letts presiding.

Results of the term are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals, dispositions included:

Dennis Lewis Bumgarner Jr., 40, Lewis Armachain Road, Cherokee, possess with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, sentence of not less than seven nor more than 18 months suspended for 18 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 34 days active time, pay fine of $100 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for 34 days served; possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than five nor more than 15 months suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.

Travis Keith Mathis, 41, East Main Street, Sylva, was found in violation of probation, original judgment modified, sentence of 90 days.

Mary Ashley Cole, 30, North Ridge Road, Glenville, interfere with electronic monitoring device, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 18 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition she serve one day active time, pay fine of $25 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for two days served; admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentences of not less than six nor more than 17 months activated, sentences to run consecutively, given credit for 30 days served, substance abuse assessment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended; admitted to three other counts of probation violation, on each count original judgment remains in full force and effect.

William Robert Faunce, 22, St. James Place, Cullowhee, possess marijuana, placed on supervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs, pass GED and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Jason Richard Holleran, 37, Race Lane, Sylva, intimidating witness, possess methamphetamine, attempted breaking and/or entering and attempted larceny, sentence of not less than 16 nor more than 29 months, given credit for 257 days served, ordered to pay costs, substance abuse assessment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended; attempted breaking and/or entering, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, make restitution of $1,210, obtain substance abuse assessment and not be on premises of South of Philly.

Anthony Leroy Abbington, 36, Goose Creek Baptist Church Road, Cherokee, possess controlled substance on prison/jail premises, sentence of not less than nine nor more than 20 months, given credit for seven days served, ordered to pay costs, substance abuse assessment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended; admitted to probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months activated, given credit for 49 days served.

Richard Burgess Kinsey, 31, Pine Creek Road, Cullowhee, larceny, sentence of 120 days suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs and have no contact with victims; attempted breaking and/or entering motor vehicle and possess stolen goods, sentence of 120 days suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs; possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than five nor more than 15 months suspended for 24 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve nine days active time and pay fine of $50 and costs, given credit for nine days served, assigned to electronic house arrest for 90 days and ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Anthony Welch Sau-nooke, 24, Dry Bone Road, Whittier, obtain property by false pretense, sentence of not less than 10 nor more than 21 months, ordered to pay costs, given credit for 10 days served, sentence to run concurrent with sentence being served, substance abuse assessment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and RSAT program recommended.

Charles William Duncan, 43, Clayton Street, Sylva, unauthorized use of motor vehicle and driving while license revoked, sentence of 45 days, given credit for 14 days served, ordered to pay costs.

David Anthony Fabian, 35, Holly Forest Lane, Cherokee, possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than three nor more than 13 months suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $25 and costs and obtain GED and substance abuse assessment, given credit for 29 days served.

In a jury trial, Scenca Devon Benning, 41, Cope Creek Road, Sylva, was found not guilty of possess firearm by felon.

Bobby Burnley, 53, Derby Road, Cullowhee, possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than seven nor more than 18 months suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
