A term of Jackson County Superior Court convened June 1 at the Justice Center with Judge Peter Knight presiding.

Results of the term are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals, dispositions included:

Joseph Brandon Hall, 27, Ferguson Road, Sylva, trafficking in opium or heroin and larceny of motor vehicle, sentence of not less than 70 nor more than 93 months, given credit for 63 days served, ordered to pay costs and make restitution of $1,000, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling and work release recommended.

Michael William Rhinehart, 49, Sugar Fork Road, Sylva, possess methamphetamine and five counts larceny of chose in action, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs and report for initial evaluation by TASC, given credit for 153 days served.

Fernando Alvarez-Blanco, 19, Petunia Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than four nor more than 18 months activated, given credit for two days served, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling and work release recommended.

Chaz James Brian Hodgins, 30, Slim Dillard Road, Sylva, was found guilty by a jury of possess methamphetamine and two counts possess Schedule II controlled substance, sentence of not less than eight nor more than 19 months suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, also found guilty of possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 43 days, given credit for 13 days served.

Christopher James Sawdo, 36, Rocky Branch Road, Whittier, possess Schedule II controlled substance, sentence of not less than four nor more than 14 months suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay costs.

Anthony Brian Robinson, 45, Waynesville, sexual battery (Alford plea), sentence of 75 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs, register as sex offender for 30 years and obtain substance abuse treatment and mental health and sex offender treatment; another count of sexual battery (Alford plea), sentence of 75 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs, surrender massage therapy license and have no contact with victims, given credit for 52 days served.

Daniel Ward Owen, 36, Rainbow Drive, Sylva, admitted to two counts of probation violation, probation extended 12 months and assigned to 24-month inpatient program.
