Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Donna Forga presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Nov. 26, with a session for other cases Nov. 27.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Nov. 26

Dona Lynn Palmer, 25, Pincushion Lane, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

William Allen Bird, 53, Lee Bird Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nine months nor more than 17 months 25 days suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 30 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 120 hours community service, given credit for six days served.

Dan Franklin Buchanan Jr., 48, Chigger Ridge, Sylva, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 36 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 14 days active time, pay fine of $350 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 90 hours community service.

Thomas Hampton Garrett, 25, Greensboro, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Aimee Renea Smith, 24, Flat Rock, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service; possess marijuana paraphernalia, fined $50, ordered to perform 24 hours community service and report for initial evaluation by Drug Education School.

Svein Brian Rognerud, 48, Kodak, Tenn., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Robert Bradley Fultz, 46, Sandusky, Ohio, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Jackson Manning Self, 20, Webster Road, Sylva, reckless driving, fined $50 and costs.

Christopher Todd Jones Jr., 32, Cloudy Valley Road, Sylva, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.

Nov. 27

Lumarie Soto, 38, Wilmington, attempt to solicit prostitution, sentence of 15 days suspended for 24 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and not be on premises of Harrah’s Casino.

Bobby Allen Gibson, 33, Long Cove Road, Tuckasegee, admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated, given credit for 120 days served.

Michael James Smith, 56, Kenneth Cooper Road, Cherokee, injury to personal property and breaking or entering, sentence of 61 days, given credit for 61 days served, ordered to not be on premises of Frontier Communications or Shamrock Storage.

Damien James Fisher, 19, Pigeon Lane, Sylva, larceny, sentence of 37 days, given credit for 37 days served, ordered to pay costs.

Garrett Kelly Nations, 22, Nations Creek Road, Whittier, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.

Sara Elise Watty, 32, Bunches Creek Road, Cherokee, possess drug paraphernalia and solicit to possess methamphetamine, placed on supervised probation for 12 months, fined $100 and costs and ordered to perform 24 hours community service.

Makayla A. Murphy, 23, High Springs, Fla., attempt to solicit prostitution, sentence of 15 days suspended for 24 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and not be on premises of Harrah’s Casino.

Dexter Dirk Mason, 48, Franklin, resisting public officer, sentence of 60 days suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, perform 20 hours community service and not be on premises of Harrah’s Casino.

Trevor Scott Broom, 20, Legend Lane, Sylva, resisting public officer, prayer for judgment continued on condition he pay costs.

Darwin Kerry Albright, 47, Canton, solicit prostitution, sentence of 25 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

John Patrick Smith, 34, Big Cove Road, Cherokee, possess stolen goods, sentence of 45 days, given credit for 45 days served; breaking or entering and larceny, sentence of 45 days, given credit for 45 days served.

Alfredo Juarez, 34, Windchime Lane, Cashiers, breaking or entering, sentence of 52 days, given credit for 52 days served, ordered to pay costs.
