Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.

Judge Kaleb Wingate presided at a session mainly for traffic cases Feb. 15, and Judge Monica Leslie presided at a session for other cases Feb. 16.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Feb. 15

Artis O’Neal Wright, 30, Seneca, S.C., waived extradition to South Carolina on charges of robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon during commission of a crime.

Garcia Luis Carlos Camacho, 27, Graham, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Amy Denise Fleming, 23, Westminster, S.C., waived extradition to South Carolina on charges of robbery and possess firearm during robbery.

Shannon Dorian Lynn, 37, Franklin, driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $150 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service.

Dawa Gyalsten, 46, Buchanan Loop, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Martine Bird, 29, Teleeski Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $150 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service.

Phillip Olias Huff, 25, Sunhillo Springs Trail, Cullowhee, possess Schedule IV controlled substance, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Carson Travon Battle, 21, Garner, received deferred prosecution on charges of assault on female, forcible trespass, assault inflicting serious injury and injury to personal property, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months and ordered to complete 26-week Domestic Violence Intervention Program.

Melinda Fuller Aguirre, 36, Snapdragon Lane, Sylva, driving while license revoked, ordered to pay costs.

Nathaniel Trevor Evans, 21, Hoot Owl Cove Road, Whittier, driving while impaired, continued to April 5 for sentencing.

Timothy Jordan Stephens, 33, Second Avenue and Mills Branch Road, Sylva, was found guilty of driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 36 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve seven days active time, pay fine of $350 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license; also found guilty of expired registration, fined $25, defendant appealed.

Feb. 16

Bianca Diane Donaldson, 30, Bryson City, admitted to violation of court order, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Paula Jean Grant, 50, Thomasville, larceny, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and have no contact with and not be on premises of victim.

Jami Leigh Kirkland, 37, Awi Drive, Cherokee, larceny and injury to personal property, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs, perform 24 hours community service and not be on premises of Walmart.

Tyler Dale Fisher, Guardian Angel Ridge, Tuckasegee, breaking or entering and second-degree trespass, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay costs and not be on premises of victim, given credit for 27 days served.

John Russell Sanfilippo, 54, Franklin, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs.

Charles Bumgarner, 31, Toohow Road, Sylva, second-degree trespass, sentence of 15 days, given credit for 15 days served, ordered to pay costs, make restitution and have no contact with and not be on premises of victim.

William Garrett Pannell, 21, Corn Flower Lane, Dillsboro, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days, given credit for 45 days served.

In a preliminary hearing, probable cause was found and Kenneth William McCall, 66, Charleys Creek Road, Tuckasegee, was bound over to Superior Court on charges of discharge weapon into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and intimidating a witness.
