Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Kris Earwood presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Oct. 25, with a session for other cases Oct. 26.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

 

Oct. 25

Carly Madison Beam, 25, Shelby, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition she serve 30 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, given  credit for 30 days of in-patient treatment.

Preston Richard Ramsey, 26, U.S. 441, Whittier, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Charles Delene Hartline, 52, Thomas Valley Road, Whittier, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

 

Oct. 26

David Wayne Carver, 42, Waynesville, solicit to commit felony to wit possess methamphetamine, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs.

Tony Dustin Gregory, 30, Old Mission Estates, Cherokee, and Waynesville, communicating threats, sentence of 120 days; assault with deadly weapon, sentence of 150 days, sentences to run consecutively.

William Kenneth Drasdo, 41, Craft Circle, Dillsboro, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 30 days.

Stacey Cameron Lowe, 29, Leatherwood Road, Sylva, possess marijuana paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for six months and ordered to pay fine of $25 and costs.

Leonel Roberto Acevedo Bauza, 21, First Rate Drive, Pine Grove Apartments, Cashiers, breaking or entering, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution and have no contact with victims.

Barbara Heather Luker, 37, Luker Branch Road, Tuckasegee, child abuse, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs, given credit for one day served.

Joan Beck Hobbs, 52, Highlands, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, sentence of four days, given credit for four days served, ordered to pay costs.

David Glenn Clark, 36, Columbus, simple assault, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, have no contact with victim and not be on premises of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

Lori Jane Cantrell, 49, Sim Jessan Road, Cherokee, second-degree trespass, sentence of seven days, given credit for seven days served, ordered to pay costs.

Kristen Danette Jones, 43, Leatherwood Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia and solicit to commit felony to wit possess methamphetamine, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Charles Ray Tolley Jr., 47, Riverbend Road, Sylva, appeared on a probation violation, sentence of 30 days, given credit for seven days served.

Hunter Alexander Morgan, 27, Yellowbird Branch Road, Sylva, larceny and first-degree trespass, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution, obtain substance abuse assessment, have no contact with victims and not be on premises of Kostas restaurant.

Richard Andrew Gilliland, 26, Tequila Lane, Sylva, possess Schedule II substance and possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $100 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Amber Ledbetter, 44, Waynesville, possess drug paraphernalia and possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs.
