Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Roy Wijewickrama presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Aug. 3, with a session for other cases Aug. 4.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Aug. 3

Taric James Khalid Ahmad, 27, Asheville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Dennis Randolph Dodd II, 33, Atlanta, Ga., driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $150 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service.

Quinten Shawn Holland, 24, Mocksville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Benjamin A. Hernandez, 33, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Kristopher Alexander, 25, Little Rock Circle, Sylva, child abuse, sentence of 75 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $150 and costs, successfully complete parenting classes and not engage in corporal punishment with children.

Aug. 4

Brooke Tiffani Clonch, 28, Castle Rock Circle, Sylva, larceny, sentence of 75 days, given credit for 35 days served.

Marco Alonzo Mendoza, 30, Bee Tree Road, Glenville, resisting public officer, sentence of seven days, given credit for seven days served.

Harley Douglas Mumbulo, 29, Starling Drive, Cullowhee, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, fined $75 and costs and ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Charles Robert Sturgis, 39, Too How Road, Whittier, resist public officer and disorderly conduct, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and have no contact with victim.

James Bagley, 46, North Country Club Drive, Cullowhee, communicating threats, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

Chrisanna Reece, 48, Waynesville, simple assault, prayer for judgment continued from term to term on condition she pay costs and have no contact with victim.

Rachel Marie Scillitani, 28, Metairie, La., possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for three months, fined $50 and costs.

Daniel Maney, 56, Slim Dillard Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, fined $50 and costs and ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Cleo David Geiger, 44, Sylva, waived extradition to Tennessee on a charge of violation of sex offender registration.

Melody Sloane Pangle, 29, Loco Hill Road, Sylva, larceny, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and not be on premises of Walmart; possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, fined $50 and costs, ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Dustin Harris, 31, Cullowhee Mountain Road, Cullowhee, larceny, prayer for judgment continued from term to term on condition he pay costs and not be on premises of Lowe’s.

Dawn Dee Davis, 48, Skyview Drive, Whittier, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated.

Brent Andrew Moore, 30, Assurance Trail, Sylva, admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated, given credit for nine days served, sentences to run concurrently.

Ricky Carl Brooks, 57, Grindstone Knob Road, Whittier, larceny by changing price tag, sentence of 90 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $75 and costs, make restitution, perform 24 hours community service and not be on premises of Walmart.

Chaz Brogan Worley, 24, East Sylva Circle, Sylva, flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle and possess pyrotechnics, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay costs and perform 24 hours community service.
