Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.
Judge Donna Forga presided at a session mainly for traffic cases May 8, and Judge Monica Leslie presided at a session for other cases May 9.
Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Charles Sturgis, 41, Toohow Road, Whittier, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on special unsupervised probation on condition he serve one day active time, pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.
Lucas Rosario, 42, Little Rock Circle, Sylva, assault on a female, sentence of 60 days suspended for 24 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and have no contact with victim.
Diana Stephanie Campos Rivera, 20, Clayton, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on special unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Christian Duane Engelhardt, 50, Burnsville, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nine months nor more than 17 months 25 days suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 60 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment or complete drug treatment course, surrender driver’s license and perform 120 hours community service, given credit for 111 days in inpatient treatment.
Jessica Lynn McElrath, 37, Wenonah Digh Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Jonathan Magna, 24, N.C. 107, Glenville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, given credit for 24 hours community service previously performed.
Matthew George Barth, 44, Ellicott City, Md., waived extradition to Maryland on charges of third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense by person in position of authority and fourth-degree sex offense-sex contact.
Dalton Faron Taylor, 20, Manor Trace, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on special unsupervised probation on condition he serve one day active time, pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, given credit for six days served.
Samantha Rasario Lopez, 20, Hall Town Road, Sylva, driving while license revoked, fined $50 and costs.
Lorenzo Chavez-Nava, 51, Newton, driving while license revoked, fined $50 and costs.
Aaron Keith Taylor, 19, Duncan. S.C., driving while impaired, sentencing continued to Aug. 21.
Russell Martin Sanders, 41, Franklin, driving while impaired, sentencing continued to June 5.

James Derrick Jenkins, 31, Ike Swimmer Road, Cherokee, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of 48 hours.
Daniel Cuatlayotl, Tepepa, 30, Big Ridge Road, Glenville, injury to personal property, sentence of four days, given credit for four days served.
Anna Elizabeth Parton, 42, Fisher Branch Road, Cherokee, defraud drug/alcohol test, sentence of 45 days to run concurrently with any other sentence being served.
Charles William Duncan, 52, Snapdragon Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, given credit for 14 days served, probation terminated.
Chadwick Errol George, 49, Dewitt Owl Road, Cherokee, second-degree trespass, sentence of 10 days suspended for 12 months and placed in unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $25 and costs and not be on premises of victim.
Jeremy Ryan Moore, 46, Beta Circle Drive, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of 38 days, given credit for 38 days served.
Mason Fletcher, 19, Fayetteville, was found guilty of assault on female, prayer for judgment continued for 12 months on condition he pay costs.
Samuel Jacob Crisp, 27, Troy Martin Road, Sylva, use of red or blue light, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.
Anna Marie Stephens, 38, Winterberry Drive, Cullowhee, breaking or entering and possess stolen goods, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs, have no contact with and not be on premises of victim and continue treatment with Meridian.
Janice Messer Stapleton, 60, Star Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, placed on supervised probation for six months, ordered to complete treatment with Meridian.

William Kenneth Drasdo, 43, Craft Circle, Dillsboro, breaking or entering, sentence of 45 days, sentence to run concurrently with any other sentence being served.
