Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Warren Hughes presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Aug. 17, with a session for other cases Aug. 18.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Aug. 17

Matthew Zachary Farns-worth, 20, Maiden, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Michael Charles Sherman, 67, Buckberry Drive, Sapphire, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nor more than 24 months suspended for four months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 30 days active time, pay fine of $750 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, given credit for 67 days of inpatient treatment.

Ernest Victor Collins V, 32, Candler, no registration, fined $35 and costs.

Zachariah Christian Reith, 21, Asheville, assault on a female, sentence of 75 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, make restitution, report for initial evaluation by TASC and have no contact with victim; injury to personal property, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months on condition he pay fine of $75.

Allan Felton, 49, Cricket Lane, Sylva, waived extradition to Texas on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of young child.

Shannon Dorian Lynn, 36, Franklin, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service, defendant appealed.

Aug. 18

James Everett Dunn, 54, Touchstone Way, Sylva, assault with deadly weapon, sentence of 150 days suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, report for mental health evaluation and have no contact with victim; domestic violence protection order violation, sentence of 150 days suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100, given credit for 27 days served.

Cody Ryan Perry, 24, Thornhill Drive, Sylva, larceny by trick, sentence of 120 days suspended for 48 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution, obtain substance abuse assessment and not be on premises of McDonald’s; common law uttering, sentence of 120 days suspended for 48 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50; also admitted to a probation violation, probation continued.

Tobias Dillard, 25, Clockwork Lane, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $75 and costs and report for initial evaluation by TASC.

Edgar Sanchez Castillo, 33, Adobe Road, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated.

Lucas Noah Foxworth, 29, Mockingbird Lane, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Allan Felton, 49, Cricket Lane, Sylva, waived extradition to Texas on a charge of sexual assault of a child.

Debra Michelle Guthrie, 28, Pigeon Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated, all monies owed to become civil judgment.

Brandon Thomas Williams, 30, Nicol Arms Road, Sylva, assault on a female, sentence of 30 days, given credit for 16 days served.

Horace Leon Jones Jr., 64, Morning Glory Road, Whittier, two counts injury to personal property, sentencing continued to Sept. 15.

In a probable cause hearing, Pascual Cuatlayotl Tochihuitl, 46, Glenville School Road, Glenville, was bound over to Superior Court on charges of possess firearm by felon, possess Schedule II substance, possess drug paraphernalia, possess methamphetamine, possess with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, posses marijuana paraphernalia, possess Schedule IV substance, possess Schedule VI substance and two counts carrying a concealed gun.

Aug. 14

Chad Everette Greene, 49, Terrace Village Drive, Cullowhee, admitted to probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 60 days activated.
