Three sessions of Jackson County District Court were held recently at the Justice Center.

Judge Kaleb Wingate presided at a session mainly for traffic cases Dec. 20. Judge Monica Leslie and Judge Donna Forga presided at sessions for other cases on Dec. 21 and Dec. 28, respectively.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Dec. 20

Sandesh Kuruvamath, 35, Charlotte, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nor more than 24 months suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 10 days active time, pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and abstain from alcohol consumption for 120 days through continuous alcohol monitoring, given credit for 21 days of in-patient treatment in lieu of active sentence, given credit for 60 days of continuous alcohol monitoring.

Travis Reyan Parker, 50, Tuck View, Sylva, violation of court order, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Ubaldo Estrada Camacho, 37, Jurassic Drive, Cashiers, two counts possess drug paraphernalia, placed on supervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution of $1,200 and obtain assessment and follow recommendations.

Joseph Paul Orth, 35, Fort Meade, Fla., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Megan Louann Hoglen, 21, Waynesville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Johnathan Troy Davis, 30, Waynesville, driving while license revoked, sentence of 20 days, given credit for 20 days served.

Jeffrey Lee Buchanan, 23, Mitchell Road, Sylva, driving while impaired, sentencing continued to Feb. 7.

Eliana Ryanne Fullerton, 20, Dallas, Ga., driving while impaired, sentencing continued to March 7.

Dec. 21

Matthew Adam Freeman, 38, Atlanta, Ga., possess Schedule IV controlled substance and resisting public officer, sentence of 90 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation, given credit for 26 days served.

Larry Allen Watson II, 44, Cheerful Cove Road, Cullowhee, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 11 days activated, given credit for five days served.

Salvador Hugo Taylor, 30, Wolfetown Road and Ma Li Road, Cherokee, failure to heed light and siren and speeding 90 mph in a 40 mph zone, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs; also admitted to a probation violation, probation continued.

Dustin James Kirkland, 36, Wayehutta Road, Cullowhee, possess drug paraphernalia and resisting public officer, sentence of 90 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for five days served.

Timothy David Kibel, 37, Dumplin Flats, Sylva, two counts domestic violence protective order violation, sentence of 150 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and have no contact with victim, given credit for 81 days served.

Heather Moose, 32, Unity Road, Sylva, school attendance law violation and common law larceny by trick, sentence of 20 days, given credit for 20 days served.

Ariane Alene Cucumber, 40, Lambert Branch Road, Cherokee, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on supervised probation for six months, ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment.

Courtney Diane Owen, 31, Dakota Drive, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on supervised probation for six months, ordered to pay costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Shayla Faye Trull, 23, Locust Creek Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Wendy Pearl Brady, 44, Cherokee, resisting public officer, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation, given credit for one day served.

Brittany Lane Shelton, 29, Cope Creek Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for one day served.

Brayden James Stimers, 18, Mt. Eire Drive, Sylva, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs.

Jacob Earl Woody, 21, Royal Fern Drive, Sylva, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs.

Carl Jeffrey Walter, 25, Old Cullowhee Road, Cullowhee, two counts common law larceny by trick, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $250 and costs and have no contact with victim.

Sarah Mae Jackson, 37, Hallmark Lane, Whittier, possess marijuana paraphernalia, sentence of two days, given credit for two days served.

John Yates Hinson, 44, Lake View Road, Tuckasegee, larceny, sentencing continued to March 29.

Bryan Lewis Brooks, 47, Grindstone Knob Road, Whittier, admitted to two counts of violation of court order, on each count monies owed to become civil judgment.

Patrick John Mills, 34, Ladderback Trail, Sylva, breaking or entering, sentence of 45 days suspended for six months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he obtain substance abuse assessment and have no contact with victims, given credit for six days served.

Andrew Todd Muenzel, 57, Lynn Haven, Fla., possess drug paraphernalia and possess Schedule IV substance, sentence of 41 days, given credit for 41 days served.

Shaun Joseph Benward, 34, Ocean Springs, Miss., second-degree trespass, fined $30 and costs, ordered to not be on premise of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

Marcus Brandon Cobaugh, 29, Clyde, appeared on a charge of violation of court order, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Jason Nathaniel Merchant, 42, Horse Shoe, driving while license revoked, fined $50 and costs.

Dec. 28

James Victor Rose Jr., 32, A Johnson Catolster Road, Cherokee, larceny, sentence of 20 days, given credit for 20 days served, ordered to pay costs, make restitution, have no contact with victim and not be on premises of Baxter Landscaping.

Randall Eugene Fowler, 56, Hive Road, Glenville, possess drug paraphernalia and possess stolen goods, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.

In a probable cause hearing, Garrett McKae Hoyle, 24, Canter Lane, Sylva, was bound over to Superior Court on a charge of flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle.
