Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.

Judge Tessa Sellers presided at a session mainly for traffic cases July 20, and Judge Farrell Hughes presided at a session for other cases July 21.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

July 20

Donna Smith Cormier, 50, Wayehutta Road, Cullowhee, admitted to two counts of probation violation, sentence of 15 days.

James Derrick Farmer, 18, Skyland Drive, Sylva, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, fined $100 and costs, ordered to perform 12 hours community service and complete substance abuse assessment.

Jessica Renee Espinoza, 35, Old Cullowhee Road, Cullowhee, driving while license revoked, ordered to pay costs.

Luis Francisco Naranjo-Estrada, 34, Waynesville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Taric James Arnold, 27, Asheville, driving while impaired, continued to Aug. 3 for sentencing.

Matthew Ryan Swayngim, 22, Iceburg Lane, Sylva, driving while impaired, continued to Oct. 12 for sentencing.

Hollis Evan Ayling, 23, Briarwood Road, Webster, driving while impaired, continued to Aug. 31 for sentencing.

Katie Roberts Bumgarner, 38, Bee Tree Road, Glenville, driving while impaired, continued to Nov. 2 for sentencing.

July 21

Venus Marine Wilson, 46, Clayton Street, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $75 and costs; maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50.

April Lea Lespier, 38, J Crowe Drive, Cherokee, posses drug paraphernalia, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs and obtain assessment, given credit for 27 days served.

Brycen Harold Bobbitt, 19, Too How Road, Whittier, simple assault and injury to personal property, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs; resisting public officer, sentence of 15 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100.

Jennifer Lynn Nelson, 28, Little Savannah Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs.

Melissa Ann Coggins, 31, Castlerock Circle, Sylva, larceny by trick, sentence of 15 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Walmart.

Carl Brian Coggins, 48, Mountain Brook Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

Dalten James Bobbitt, 17, Too How Road, Whittier, consuming alcoholic beverage by person underage, prayer for judgment continued on condition he pay costs and complete Prime for Life program.

Katrina Cook, 33, Paulette Smart Road, Cherokee, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 66 days, given credit for 66 days served.

Timothy Davis Kibel, 35, Dumplin Flats, Sylva, domestic violence protective order violation, sentence of 150 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, complete Domestic Violence Treatment Program and have no contact with victim.
