Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Monica Leslie presiding.
A session mainly for traffic cases was held April 17, with a session for other cases April 18.
Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:
April 17
Carlos Granados, 31, Devin Drive, Cullowhee, driving while license revoked, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $75 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
Wyatt Alexander Lobacz, 19, Durham, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, ordered to pay fine of $75 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
Michael Andrew Hall, 22, Little Savannah Road, Sylva, was found guilty of driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service; also found guilty of driving after drinking by person under 21 (at time of charge), sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation.
Elizabeth Inell Shields, 34, Franklin, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Scott Andrew Whitman, 28, West Rogers Road, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Tanner Glenn Howell, 22, Bryson City, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Faustino Galvez Bernardino, 23, Anvil Road, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Francisco Chavez Sanchez, 30, no address listed, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Destin Calvin Hegstrom, 27, Canada Road, Tuckasegee, pleaded no contest to driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, given credit for 24 hours inpatient treatment in lieu of community service.
Eric Maurice Streater, 59, Streater Road, Sylva, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.
Ashlynn Hope Buchanan, 24, Franklin, driving while impaired, sentencing continued to May 22.

Alyssa Chanteal Robinson, 26, Touchstone Way, Sylva, larceny by trick, sentence of five days, given credit for five days served, ordered to make restitution and not be on premises of Tribal Pawn.
Audrey Leigh Rudendall, 28, Maggie Valley, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $75 and costs and complete treatment program currently attending.
Joseph Timothy Hernandez, 21, Stony Point, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $75 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
Cecil Mathis, 46, Happy Hollow Road, Sylva, two counts simple worthless check, ordered to pay costs and make restitution.
Randy Clyde Lyda, 59, Laurel Drive, Sapphire, domestic violence protective order violation, sentence of 90 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $75 and costs, given credit for six days served.
Jerry Dale Lanning Jr., 31, Waynesville, injury to personal property, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he make restitution of $1,419.14 and have no contact with victim.
Junior Allen Masingo, 50, Troy Martin Road, Whittier, larceny, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he make restitution, have no contact with victim and not be on premises of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

William Tyler Prather, 29, Nicol Arms Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 90 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for four days served.
Edna Renea Hornbuckle, 33, Hornbuckle Drive, Cherokee, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 23 days, given credit for 23 days served.
Sierra Astrid Black, 30, Arnold Hill, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on supervised probation for six months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
Jose Ivan Abad Mendez, 29, Medicine Mountain Road, Cashiers, breaking or entering, sentence of 45 days suspended for 17 months and placed on unsupervised probation, ordered to have no contact with and to be on premises of victim, given credit for 12 days served.
