A session of Jackson County District Court was held Sept. 3 at the Justice Center with Judge Jerry Waddell presiding.

Results of the session are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. 

Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Dylan James McCall, 19, Windchime Road, Cashiers, driving after drinking by person under 21, continued to Nov. 4 for sentencing.

Osley Joktan Quincell Moore, 25, Peak Drive, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Cody Allen Mintz, 27, Crackin Chestnut Lane, Sylva, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than six months suspended for 18 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve seven days active time, pay fine of $200 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Michael Charles Sherman, 66, Buckberry Drive, Sapphire, driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 90 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $150 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service.

Thongkhoune Ratsakongsy, 45, Durham, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Javier Garciz Perez, 43, Slabtown Road, Cashiers, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

James Michael Howard, 43, Lotus Drive, Sylva, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.

Samantha Marie Price, 24, Wrights Creek Road, Cherokee, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.
