A term of Jackson County Superior Court convened March 28 at the Justice Center with Judge Daniel Kuenhert presiding.

Results of the term are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and cases previously reported, dispositions included:

Tiffany Marie Ward, 32, Acree Drive, Cherokee, trafficking opium or heroin by transport, sentence of not less than 70 nor more than 93 months, given credit for 65 days served, fined $50,000, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling and work release recommended.

Terry Jay Webb, 42, Allen Street, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of 11 days, probation extended 12 months.

Courtney Anne Sherrill, 26, Lucille Beck Lane, Cherokee, larceny of motor vehicle, sentence of not less than eight nor more than 19 months suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation, given credit for eight days served, ordered to obtain substance abuse assessment; possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than five nor more than 15 months suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation.

Crystal Gail Wood, 39, U.S. 74 East, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she perform 24 hours community service and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Kristi Danielle Brooks, 36, Bryson City, admitted to a probation violation, assigned to Life Challenge Program, probation extended 18 months.

Rex Spencer Walkingstick, 23, Kamma Drive, Cherokee, possess methamphetamine and maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 20 days active time and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for 60 days served.

Amanda Nicole Sherrill, 33, Maggie Valley, admitted to a probation violation, probation continued with random screening, given credit for treatment previously received.

Jeffrey Lynn Carpenter, 47, Franklin, possess methamphetamine, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he obtain substance abuse assessment.
