A term of Jackson County Superior Court convened Aug. 16 at the Justice Center with Judges Brad Letts and Marvin Pope presiding.

Results of the term are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals, dispositions included:

Robert Allen Hooper, 55, Keyhole Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than eight nor more than 19 months activated, given credit for 23 days served, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended.

Anthony Luke Graham, 32, Canton, breaking and/or entering, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months, given credit for 30 days served, ordered to pay costs and have no contact with victim or co-defendant, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended.

Eva Marie Messer, 25, Allen Street, Sylva, was found guilty by a jury of possess firearm by felon and resist public officer, sentence of not less than 16 nor more than 29 months, given credit for seven days served, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended; also found guilty of possess with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of not less than nine nor more than 20 months, ordered to pay costs, sentences to run consecutively.

Walter Lewis Underwood, 42, Zeb Alley Road, Cashiers, possession firearm by felon (Alford plea) sentence of not less than 16 nor more than 29 months, given credit for 101 days served, ordered to pay costs, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended; two counts possess stolen goods and two counts breaking and/or entering (Alford plea) sentence of not less than nine nor more than 20 months, ordered to pay costs, sentences to run consecutively.

Larry Allen Watson II, 44, Cheerful Cove Road, Cherokee, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of nine days, probation extended 12 months.

Dustin Ryan Dyer, 29, Bryson City, was found guilty by a jury of possess methamphetamine and possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of not less than six nor more than 17 months suspended for 24 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve four days active time, pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain GED, and obtain substance abuse and mental health assessments, given credit for four days served, defendant appealed to Court of Appeals.

Richard Burgess Kinsey, 33, Pine Creek Road, Cullowhee, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of five days.

Allyson Denise Lambert, 38, Elise Rattler Road, Cherokee, habitual larceny, possess Schedule II substance and larceny, sentence of not less than nine nor more than 20 months, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended.

David Jason Johnson, 39, Cornflower Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than 10 nor more than 21 months activated, given credit for 25 days served, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric and/or psychological counseling, work release and DART program recommended.

Dawn Lree Cline, 45, Bryson City, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated, monies owed to become civil judgment.
