Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Roy Wijewickrama presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held July 6, with a session for other cases July 7.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

July 6

Alexander Tommy West, 59, Cherokee, driving while license revoked, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

Amber Renae Henry, 23, Lovedale Road, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Donald Wesley King, 56, Whittier School Road, Whittier, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Timothy Ray Ferrell, 59, Tucson, Ariz., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

July 7

Dennis James Cope, 49, East Cope Creek Road, Sylva, admitted to four counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated, given credit for five days served, sentences to run concurrently.

Bobby Burnley, 54, Mills Branch Road, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated.

Michael James Bailey, 33, Duckback Trail, Whittier, was found in contempt of court, sentence of 30 days.

Heather Steele, 26, East Hall Heights, Sylva, was found in contempt of court, sentence of four days.

Jack McLean Scotland, 20, Winston-Salem, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated unsuccessfully.

Steven Dale Eplin, 39, Gastonia, admitted to a probation violation, probation transferred to supervised.

Devin Dacoda Collins, 27, Bryson City admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentence of 60 days and 120 days activated, given credit for 28 days and 62 days served, sentences to run concurrently.

Tammy Rena Welzbacher, 60, South Country Club Drive, Cullowhee, resisting public officer, prayer for judgment continued from term to term on condition she pay costs.

Ja Lin L.G. Virgo, 19, Thomasville, possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, fined $50 and costs.

Jeffery Childers, 38, Rushing Rapids Drive, Cullowhee, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation; also admitted to violation of court order, all monies owed to become civil judgment.

Lindsey Adams, 24, Walter Ashe Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia and second-degree trespass, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation.

Nicole Marie Vitale, 20, Alpharetta, Ga., possess marijuana paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for three months, fined $50 and costs.

Ryan Francis Mangold, 26, Cope Creek Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 30 days, given credit for 30 days served.

Christopher Nathan Stephens, 33, Lewis Cove Road, Whittier, defrauding drug/alcohol screen tests, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.
