Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.

Judge Monica Leslie presided at a session mainly for traffic cases July 29, and Judge Dennis Redwing presided at a session for other cases July 30.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

July 29

Christopher Michael Masters, 46, Asheville, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 24 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve seven days active time, pay fine of $300 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Amanda Leigh Gillard, 24, Stonefly Drive, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Sterling Frank Nottingham, 27, Holly Road, Sapphire, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Paul Glen Webb III, 48, Asheville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Gabriel David Simcox, 35, Mount Noble Road, Cherokee, carrying concealed weapon, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.

Jeffrey Scott Starnes, 38, Monroe, possess marijuana, fined $25 and costs.

Edgar Merales Paz, 30, Franklin, driving while license revoked, sentence of two days, given credit for two days served, fined $10.

Thongkhoune Ratsakongsy, 45, Durham, driving while impaired, sentencing continued until Sept. 3.

Kellie Pittard Levy, 55, Bryson City, driving while impaired, sentencing continued until Oct. 7.

July 30

Joseph Gerald Cook, 39, Double Springs Lane, Cullowhee, admitted to a probation violation, given credit for 128 days served, probation terminated.

Ebony Michelle Hastings, 22, Medallion Drive, Cullowhee, disorderly conduct, prayer for judgment continued on condition she pay costs.

Robyne A. Dehart, 36, Flying Squirrel Road, Whittier, admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentences of 90 days activated, given credit for 37 days served.

Brandy Dawn Newcomer, 40, Indian Flats Drive, Sylva, common law uttering, prayer for judgment continued on condition she pay costs.

Christian Anthony Dawson, 30, Flaxman Cove, Sylva, contributing to neglect of child, prayer for judgment continued on condition he pay costs.

Genna Carlene Bryson, 32, Neal Bryson Road, Glenville, contributing to neglect of child, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain alcohol assessment.

Krystal Rae Baumgarner, 36, Mitten Lane, Cashiers, attempt possession of counterfeit instrument, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs.
