Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Rick Walker presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held July 22, with a session for other cases July 23.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

July 22

Rena Johnson Wachacha, 63, Olivet Church Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level three, sentence of not less than nor more than six months suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $250 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 72 hours community service.

Michael Abraham George, 21, Old Soco Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired, sentencing continued to Aug. 26.

Derrick Cecil White, 32, Swannanoa, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 59 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs and have no contact with victims, given credit for 59 days served.

Crystal Bevin Fann, 29, Union Hill Road, Whittier, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nor more than 18 months suspended for 48 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition she serve 30 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Skyler James Baker, 25, Franklin, driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service; reckless driving, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay costs.

Brionna May Swanson, 24, Pincushion Lane, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

July 23

Hugh Nolan Queen, 54, Big Witch Road, Cherokee, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months activated, given credit for 65 days served.

Travis Jamey Sizemore, 28, Whirlwind Drive, Whittier, appeared on two counts of probation violation, original judgment modified and sentence of 57 hours.

Carolyn Renee Lynch, 38, Magic Circle, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation extended for 12 months.

Charles Eugene Moss Jr., 63, West Lance Road, Cashiers, violation of court order, two counts second-degree trespass and four counts domestic violence protective order violation, sentence of 60 days suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $200 and costs; domestic violence protective order violation, drunk and disruptive, communicating threats, resisting public officer and two counts second-degree trespass, sentence of 60 days suspended for 24 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve six days active time, pay fine of $200 and costs, not be on premises of Hampton Inn and have no contact with victims and their families and deacons of Christ Church of the Valley.

Clay Silas Tanner Jones, 26, Knotty Oak Drive, Sylva, assault inflicting serious injury, sentence of 150 days suspended for 24 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 14 days active time, pay fine of $500 and costs, make restitution of $1,555.64, have no contact with victim and obtain substance abuse assessment, given credit for 14 days served.

Joshua Scott Whitstine, 37, Waynesville and Canton, larceny, conspiracy and second-degree trespass, sentence of 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and not be on premises of Walmart; second-degree trespass, sentence of 12 days, given credit for 12 days served.

Avril Gwendolene Elaine Bowens, 44, Otto, regulation of midwifery, sentence of 10 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $50 and costs and comply with rules and regulation of profession.

Emily Jane Arkansas, 19, Mark Bigmeat Road, Cherokee, and Grandview Mesa Road, Whittier, consuming alcoholic beverage by person underage, prayer for judgment continued on condition she pay costs.

Antonio Desean White, 21, Sneelville, Ga., possess marijuana, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay fine of $50 and costs and perform 24 hours community service.
