Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center.

Judge Kris Earwood presided at a session mainly for traffic cases Aug. 26, and Judge Roy Wijewickrama presided at a session for other cases Aug. 27.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Aug. 26

Michael Abraham George, 21, Old Soco Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Anthony Doyle Boggs, 29, Dalton Road, Sylva, no operator’s license, sentence of 10 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50; driving while license revoked and no insurance, prayer for judgment continued on condition he pay costs.

Angela Crystal Martinez, 40, Castle Rock Circle, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated, given credit for 17 days served.

Walter George Haynes, 32, Waynesville, two counts driving while license revoked, sentence of 10 months suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

Gage Conley Kennedy, 26, Devonshire Lane, Sylva, was found guilty of driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service; also found guilty of reckless driving and speeding 76 mph in a 55 mph zone, sentence of 15 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50.

Aug. 27

Tasdia Skye Cisneros, 30, Sam Sherrill Road, Cherokee, two counts resisting public officer, sentence of 50 days, given credit for 50 days served.

Brooke Tiffani Clonch, 27, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 27 days activated, given credit for 27 days served.

Jacob Nathaniel Bigwitch, 22, Rosie Bigwitch Road, Cherokee, possession of stolen goods, sentence of 21 days, given credit for 21 days served; possess drug paraphernalia and solicitation to commit felony of possess methamphetamine, placed on supervised probation for six months and ordered to pay fine of $75 and costs and obtain initial evaluation by assessment agency.

Tristin Byrd Flying, 21, Bryson City, consume alcoholic beverage by person underage, fined $50 and costs.

Jonathan Thomas Prock, 18, Asheville, possess malt beverage by person underage, fined $50 and costs.

Wesley Scott Rodgers, 22, Clyde, resist public officer, sentence of two days, given credit for two days served.

Christopher Alphonso Vines II, 23, Citadel Drive, Cullowhee, resist public officer, prayer for judgment continued for 12 months on condition he pay costs.

Kevin Michael Hart, 46, Old #4 Road, Cherokee, drunk and disruptive, sentence of 10 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $25 and costs, given credit for one day served.

Jacob Earl Woody, 18, Royal Fern Drive, Sylva, received deferred prosecution on a charge of breaking and/or entering, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months and ordered to perform 60 hours community service and pay costs.

Oscar Alexander Coleman, 18, Tumblewood Trail, Cullowhee, received deferred prosecution on a charge of breaking and/or entering, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months and ordered to perform 60 hours community service and pay costs.

William Wallace Coleman, 16, Tumblewood Trail, Cullowhee, received deferred prosecution on a charge of breaking and/or entering, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months and ordered to perform 60 hours community service and pay costs.

Victorino Valencia Pacheco, 39, Clayton, Ga., waived extradition to Georgia on a charge of aggravated sodomy.

Lynsey Marie Cogdill, 34, Waynesville, second-degree trespass, fined $50 and costs and ordered to not be on the premises of Walmart.

Aug. 23

One misdemeanor case was heard during an Aug. 23 court session mainly for minor traffic offenses presided over by Judge Rick Walker:

Clayton Dean Whisner, 54, Clyde, larceny, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, given credit for 55 days served.

Aug. 28

Two misdemeanor cases were heard during an Aug. 28 court session mainly for juvenile cases presided over by Judge Wijewickrama:

Joseph Diaz, 28, Riverbend Road, Sylva, school attendance law violation, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs.

Crystal Gail Wood, 37, U.S. 74 East, Sylva, school attendance law violation, prayer for judgment continued from term to term for one year.
