Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Tessa Sellers presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Nov.4, with a session for other cases Nov. 5.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Nov. 4

Christina Nichole Kasa, 31, Murphy, driving while impaired – level four, sentence of not less than nor more than 120 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $150 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 48 hours community service.

Dylan James McCall, 19, Windchime Road, Cashiers, driving after drinking by person under 21, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, surrender driver’s license and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Laura W. Scott, 34, Hixson, Tenn., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Robert Logan Potts, 37, Royal Mountain Road, Cullowhee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Corey Michael Buchanan, 29, Frosty Ridge Road, Sylva, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 36 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $300 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license, defendant to wear Scram Monitor for 90 days in lieu of active time and community service.

Jose Manuel Cortes Batalla, 21, Swannanoa, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Christy Danielle-Lautner, 28, Asheville, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service; possess drug paraphernalia and possess Schedule III controlled substance, placed on supervised probation for 12 months, ordered to pay costs, perform 24 hours community service and report for initial evaluation by TASC.

Daniel Ray Smith, 33, Cactus Loop, Sylva, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Jon Bantom Legere, 43, Brown Ridge Road, Sylva, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.

Charlene Anita McCoy, 48, J.D. Lambert Road, Cherokee, two counts driving while license revoked, fined $50 and costs.

Whitney Leigh Brotherton, 33, Thomas Valley Road, Whittier, driving while license revoked, fined $50 and costs.

Steven Cody Moore, 27, Fisher Creek Road, Sylva, resisting public officer and two counts driving while license revoked, sentence of 90 days suspended for 18 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and perform 24 hours community service.

Brett Michael Swainston, 29, Cabe Road, Sylva, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 36 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve eight days active time, pay fine of $300 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, and surrender driver’s license.

Brooklyn Nichole McDermott, 26, Waynesville, driving while license revoked, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs and perform 24 hours community service.

Amanda Elizabeth Dacus, 26, Lenoir, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service; also found guilty of reckless driving, fined $50.

Nov. 5

Antonio Lamont Smith, 47, Hornbuckle Creek Road, Cherokee, two counts larceny, sentence of 120 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs and have no contact with victims.

Nicholas Antoine Gholston, 27, Johnson Arch Road, Cherokee, two counts second-degree trespass, sentence of 19 days, given credit for 19 days served, ordered to not be on premises of Harrah’s Cherokee Casino.

Paul Thomas Bowman, 34, Candler, second-degree trespass, sentence of four days, given credit for four days served; attempted break/enter building and unauthorized use of motor vehicle, sentence of 120 days suspended for 12 months on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.

Dustin Ryan Dyer, 28, Bryson City, first-degree trespass, sentence of 24 days, given credit for 24 days served.

Ryan Keith Watty, 24, Robbinsville, larceny by trick, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Walmart.

Bryan Aaron Berryman, 50, Robbinsville, larceny, sentence of 41 days, given credit for 41 days served.

Kyle Lee Lackey, 36, Mount Eire Drive, Sylva, larceny, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Walmart.

Daniel Wayne Warren, 37, U.S. 74 East, Sylva, larceny, sentence of 52 days, given credit for 52 days served.

Miranda Jean Robinson, 38, Leicester, drunk and disruptive, sentence of one day, given credit for one day served.

John Kelly Crisco, 23, Grove Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia and solicitation to commit felony: possess methamphetamine, placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, fined $100 and costs, ordered to perform 24 hours community service and report for initial evaluation by drug assessment agency.

Crystal Beth Arkansas, 37, Hoot Owl Cove Road, Cherokee, larceny and two counts second-degree trespass, sentence of four days, given credit for four days served.

Paden Riley Welch, 22, Robbinsville, disorderly conduct, prayer for judgment continued.

Deaudre Rayqwon Jennings, 19, Orangeburg, S.C., possess marijuana, fined $50 and costs.

Katherine Rose Arendt, 18, Clemmons, possess marijuana, continued to Jan. 22 for sentencing.

Francisco Javier Rodriguezcruz, 27, Wolfetown Road, Cherokee, no operator’s license, fined $50 and costs.

Landyn Blake Brown, 18, Morganton, consume alcoholic beverage by person underage, fined $50.
