Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Monica Leslie presiding.

A session mainly for traffic cases was held Dec. 7, with a session for other cases Dec. 8.

Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:

Dec. 7

Nicholas Church, 44, Atlanta, Ga., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Tansi Elaine Young, 40, Old Soco Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.

Michael Carl Hadley, 30, Lillington, driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service, given credit for eight days served.

Carson Michael Bailey, 22, Apex, reckless driving, sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $75 and costs.

Xzavier Rein Taylor, 30, Goose Creek Road, Cherokee, driving while impaired – level two, sentence of not less than nor more than 12 months suspended for 18 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 48 hours active time, pay fine of $250 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and abstain from alcohol consumption for 90 days, given credit for 86 days of alcohol abstinence spent on continuous alcohol monitoring prior to trial.

Austin Trent Davis, 25, Royal Fern Drive, Sylva, driving while impaired – level one, sentence of not less than nor more than 24 months suspended for 36 months and placed on special supervised probation on condition he serve 30 days active time, pay fine of $350 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and surrender driver’s license.

Timothy David Kibel, 36, Dumplin Flats, Sylva, possess marijuana and two counts domestic violence protective order violation, sentence of 120 days; also admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 150 days activated, given credit for 36 days served.

Dec. 8

Steven Dale Eplin, 40, Jericho Road, Whittier, and Gastonia, second-degree trespass, sentence of 20 days; also admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentences of 120 days and 20 days activated, given credit for 18 days served, probation sentences to run concurrently with each other and to run consecutively with other sentence.

Shelley Lee Pabis, 28, Leaning Tree Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, ordered to abstain from alcohol consumption and submit to continuous alcohol monitoring for 60 days.

Sasha Leigh Watson, 37, Cheerful Cove, Cullowhee, admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 10 days activated, given credit for five days served.

Justin Allen Holmes, 35, Forest Cove Road, Cullowhee, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated, monies owed to become civil judgment.

Chandra Gay Bigmeat, 44, Blythe Drive, Cherokee, possess stolen goods, sentence of seven days, given credit for seven days served, ordered to not be on premises of Walmart.

Joseph Douglas Haynes, 31, Pecan Drive, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, probation extended 12 months, ordered to serve one weekend in jail.

Earl Ray Buchanan, 44, Mitchell Road, Sylva, take wild turkey with aid of bait (corn), sentence of 30 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $250 and costs, hunting license suspended for nine months.

Adam Preston Rogers, 36, Asheville, violation of court order criminal contempt, sentence of 15 days.

Ryan Muster, 26, Waynesville, larceny by trick, sentence of 120 days to run concurrently with sentence being served.

Michael Shawn Jones, 40, Asheville, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $50 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.

Katrina Cook, 33, Whittier, breaking or entering and injury to real property, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay costs and not be on premises of Qualla Development Club.

Carl Bryant, 33, Edgewood Street, Sylva, resisting public officer, prayer for judgment continued from term to term.

Emma Marie Evitt-Harris, 26, Calendar Court, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, placed on unsupervised probation for six months, ordered to obtain assessment, given credit for 39 days served.

Gaulberto Cantu, 40, St. James Place, Cullowhee, possess stolen goods, sentence of 36 days, given credit for 36 days served, ordered to have no contact with victim.
