Two sessions of Jackson County District Court were held last week at the Justice Center with Judge Rick Walker presiding.
A session mainly for traffic cases was held July 25, with a session for other cases July 26.
Results of the sessions are listed below, with information obtained from records on file with the Jackson County Clerk of Court office. Defendants pleaded guilty unless indicated otherwise. In addition to dismissals and infractions, dispositions included:
July 25
Mario Diaz, 46, Trade-winds Lane, Sylva, driving while license revoked, sentence of 90 days suspended for 12 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $200 and costs; also admitted to a probation violation, probation extended 12 months.
Jonathan Avery Barber, 27, Greenville, S.C., driving while impaired – level five, sentence of not less than nor more than 60 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment, surrender driver’s license and perform 24 hours community service.
Jessica Anne Brown, 31, Scamper Lane, Tuckasegee, no insurance, fined $25 and costs.
Jonathan Ray Logan, 39, Blanton Branch Road, Sylva, driving while license revoked, sentence of 20 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.
Antonio Jamar Williams, 27, Warp Drive, Cullowhee, driving while impaired, continued to Aug. 30 for sentencing.
Adriana Huicochea, 22, Hope Road, Whittier, driving while impaired, continued to Oct. 10 for sentencing.
Courtney Gayle Andrews, 24, Indian Trail, driving while impaired, continued to Oct. 10 for sentencing.
July 26
Elizabeth Cantu, 25, Huckleberry Cove, Sylva, child abuse, sentence of 45 days suspended for 12 months and placed on unsupervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, obtain substance abuse assessment and follow recommendations of parenting classes.
Darren Ray Carter, 32, Molasses Mountain Road, Sylva, defraud drug/alcohol test, sentence of 60 days; also admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 45 days activated, sentences to run concurrently.
Jason Huner-Erick Crisp, 19, Murphy, larceny, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs, make restitution and not be on premises of Western Carolina University; larceny and conspiracy to enter motor vehicle, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition he pay fine of $100 and costs.
Sandra Ledford Evans, 46, Cornflower Lane, Sylva, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of 10 days.
Rachel Fleming, 34, Robbinsville, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 120 days suspended for 24 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $200 and costs and obtain substance abuse assessment.
Kyle Lee Lackey, 39, U.S. 74 East, Sylva, admitted to three counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentence of 120 days activated.
Charles Eugene Moss Jr., 66, West Lance Road, Cashiers, appeared on two counts of probation violation, on each count probation terminated.
Christian Ryan Sammons, 28, Tobey Bryson Road, Cullowhee, admitted to two counts of probation violation, on each count probation revoked and sentences of 120 days and not less than nor more than 12 months activated.
Derek Todd Thomas, 60, Walnut Cove Road, Tuckasegee, admitted to a probation violation, sentence of five days.
Victoria Ashley Locust, 29, Washington Creek Road, Cherokee, admitted to a probation violation, probation terminated.
Brittany Nicole Woodard, 31, Happy Valley Road, Sylva, possess drug paraphernalia, sentence of 45 days suspended for 18 months and placed on supervised probation on condition she pay fine of $100 and costs, assigned to TASC program.
James Leon Massey, 50, Conleys Place, Whittier, waived preliminary hearing and was bound over to Superior Court on charges of possess marijuana paraphernalia, conspire to traffick methamphetamine (two counts) possess drug paraphernalia, possess marijuana and traffick in methamphetamine (two counts); also had charges of driving while license revoked and tinted window violation transferred to Superior Court.
Buford William Smith, 50, Beck Branch Road, Whittier, defraud drug/alcohol test, sentence of 90 days, defendant appealed; also admitted to a probation violation, probation revoked and sentence of 90 days activated, defendant appealed.
