Jackson County Sheriff Jimmy Ashe, right, oversees processing
at Jackson Countys Detention and Law Enforcement Center
as inmates were moved into the new $6 million, 76-bed building
Tuesday, Oct. 28. Some 30 inmates six from out of county
were admitted Tuesday, and Ashe said he plans to make money
with the new facility because other counties must pay Jackson
County $40 per day to house their inmates. For federal inmates,
the rate is $85 a day, according to Ashe, who said. "It took
all hands on deck to make the big move."
