Inspirations win top song

The Inspirations, founded some 40 years ago by Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Martin Cook of Cullowhee's Caney Fork community (center front) recently won The Singing News Song of the Year Award for the second straight year. Other members are, from left, Melton Campbell, Archie Watkins, Mike Holcomb, Matt Dibler and Myron Cook. "We Need to Thank God," the lead cut from the group's Highway to Heaven recording, was chosen this year's winner by the magazine's subscribers. The Inspirations won top song honors last year with "I'll Not Turn My Back on Him Now."
