Two incumbents led the way in Tuesday's voting for four-year terms
on the Sylva Board of Commissioners.
Maurice Moody, a six-year veteran of the board, was the top vote-getter
with 134 votes. Danny Allen, who has been on the board two years,
polled 116 votes.
Political newcomer Ray Lewis, a former Sylva police officer, took
the third seat with 101 votes.
Coming up short were Karen Martar with 87 votes followed by Dallas
Stephens (79), Milt Wofford (67) and Dodie Blaschik (46).
There were two write-in votes.
Incumbent Audrey Tritt has moved out of the city limits and was
not a candidate for re-election.
Anne Cabe was running unopposed for the remaining two years of
a four-year term her late husband, Eldon, was elected to in 2001.
She was appointed to the seat following his death earlier this
year. Cabe had 135 votes, and there were two write-ins.
In Forest Hills, Mayor James Davis and council members Sue Burton
and Joe Rossano won re-election without opposition. Davis had
50 votes with one write-in. Burton and Rossano had 48 and 46 votes,
respectively, with two write-ins.
The results will become official after Friday's vote canvass.
Elections in Sylva and Forest Hills were non-partisan.
