One-stop voting ends Nov. 1

By Rose Hooper

"So, who are you going to vote for?"

It may not receive the national press of the California election, but locally all the chatter on Main Street, Sylva is focusing on the upcoming election.

While Anne Cabe is unopposed to retain her current Sylva Town Board seat, seven candidates are vying to fill the remaining three seats up for election Nov. 4.

Incumbents Danny Allen and Maurice Moody running for re-election face newcomers Dodie Allen Blaschik, Ray "Frog" Lewis, Karen Martar, Dallas Stephens and M.L. "Milt" Wofford.

In the Village of Forest Hills, where the candidates running are unopposed, the Bill Gaither concert on the Western Carolina University campus Oct. 31 is drawing more attention than the Nov. 4 election.
Mayor James Davis is running for re-election, as are council members Sue Burton and Joe Rossano.

One-stop voting in the two municipal elections ends Saturday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m.

Polls will open at 6:30 p.m. on election day and will close at 7:30 p.m.
