Jake Scott named most outstanding as SM sweeps Mustang Invitational

The Mustangs (3-1) defeated Murphy 77-6, Franklin 57-22 and Robbinsville 42-38.

Scott recorded pins in all three of his matches and had just one point scored against him during the tournament.

"He was one of the few wrestlers who had a full weight class," Coach Todd Odom said. "He didn't have any forfeits. He earned every match and deserved to be most outstanding."

A new rule requires a draw to be held to determine which weight class to start with. Each match in the tourney opened at 119 pounds. That left the Mustangs behind going into the last match against Robbinsville, but Cory McElprang recorded a pin to pull out the victory.
