Just as in game one, the Lady Warriors went up 2-0 in the second game. Loughlin served four points to go along with two kills by Cook and one by Hilton for a 4-2 lead. This game was tougher, but SM opened up a 12-6 edge after three points by Amber Stephens and two kills by Pruett. Jessica Cook served the final two points, including an ace.

The Lady Mustangs had no trouble in game three as they led 7-0 after five points from Harshman. Loughlin had two kills, and Hilton added a kill and a block in the spurt. Loughlin followed with four points, including an ace, and Hilton had a kill making it 11-1. The match ended on Stasha Nicholson's kill with Sunny Davies serving.

Cook and Hilton recorded eight and seven assists, respectively. Harshman was credited with 17 assists.

Loughlin led in service points with 17 while serving 95.5 percent. Not missing a serve were Stephens (eight), Kristin McAbee (five), Ryan Cook (four) and Linsey Bumgarner and Stasha Nicholson (one each). Harshman served 92.9 percent. Team serving was 93.1 percent.

Erwin won the JV match 15-7, 16-14. Leslie Mathis served five points for SM in the second game.

"We played much better in the second game but just fell a little short," Coach Nikki Young said.

She said Erin Hayes was a key to the improved play in game two. Also singled out were Julie Cagle, Danielle Bowers, Kristine Webb and Katie Crisp.
