Reynolds defeats swim teams; Allie Lewis establishes record

Smoky Mountain finished second to Reynolds in women's and men's swim meets Saturday at the Skyland Pool near Asheville.

The Reynolds women had 97.5 points to 65.5 for SM and 2 for Carolina Day.

On the men's side, Reynolds compiled 119 points to SM's 28 and Carolina Day's 12.

Allie Lewis set a school record in the 100 backstroke as she was second in 1:04.21.

Those winning events for the SM women were:

Medley relay - Amanda Floerchinger, Cari Heckert, Lewis and Carrilea Potter, 2:09.97.

200 freestyle - Floerchinger, 2:19.44.

200 individual medley - Heckert, 2:26.18.

500 free - Lewis, 5:36.79.

100 breaststroke - Heckert, 1:16.16.

On the men's side, Nick Cox won the 100 breast in 1:10.03.

Other Mustang swimmers who scored points were: Greta Bates, Niki Clapsaddle, Rebecca Coward, Julie Fox, Jolene Jurss, Crystal Moore, Corey Smith, Liz Tierney, Peter Gilman, Kyle McCay and Nicholas Savell.

"Allie swam tough, taking on the top Reynolds swimmer in her best event," Coach Johanna Lewis said. "Even though Allie didn't come out on top, she set a new school record. Freshman Carrilea Potter stepped up to the A medley relay team and did an outstanding job. Peter Gilman, Nicholas Savell and Julie Fox also had great swims."
