Smoky Mountain's soccer team picked up its first Mountain Athletic Conference victory of the season by blanking Erwin 6-0 Friday at Carr Hooper Stadium/Babe Howell Field.
Jordan Cheek and Sunny Davies both scored two goals for the Lady Mustangs (1-3 in the MAC). "Our communication skills are improving," Coach Karla Phillips said. "We're starting to work together as a team. It was a good conference win." Cheek scored both her goals in the first half, and Sarah Whatley had one for a 3-0 lead at intermission. Davis scored twice in the second half, and Anna Dill had a goal. |

Phillips noted it was the first goal of Dill's career. Normally a defender, she was moved to forward late in the game.
The Lady Mustangs took 30 shots. SM goal keeper Brittany Hilton made one save. |
