Smoky Mountain cross country team will open season August 22 at Swain |
Smoky Mountain is slated to open its cross country season Aug. 22 at Swain.
The remainder of the tentative schedule is as follows:AugustSome minor changes have been announced in tentative schedules released earlier. The volleyball team has added two matches with West Henderson and dropped its lone meeting with Swain. SM will open Aug. 13 at home against West. The Lady Mustangs will go to West on Oct. 8. A match originally slated for that date with Swain has been cancelled. More volleyball changes could be forthcoming due to a delay in acquiring new bleachers. The bleachers are expected to be installed in early September. Until then, matches could be played at home with the use of temporary bleachers. Other options are swapping home and away dates with opponents or playing at an elementary school. The gym will be shut down for a week or more while the bleachers are being installed. The soccer team has added single games with Brevard and Pisgah and dropped its only contest with Reynolds. The Mustangs will go to Brevard on Aug. 15 rather than Reynolds as originally planned. They will be at Pisgah on Sept. 13. The basketball teams will play in a Christmas classic Dec. 27-28 at Western Carolina University's Ramsey Center. Opponents will be Brevard and Andrews, respectively. The games were set for SM in the original schedule. Official schedules will be released before each sports season begins. |
