Franklin built a lead with hot outside shooting in the first half Friday and cruised to a 79-58 Western Athletic Conference victory over Smoky Mountain on Jan. 23 at the SM gym.
Ben VanHook led a balanced Panther scoring attack with 14 points. Micah Hendrix and Scott Thorne both had 10. The Mustangs fell to 2-7 in the league despite an outstanding shooting performance by Justin Roper. He hit seven of eight attempts from three-point range for 21 points. Jason Bennett added 11 points. "Our kids played hard," Coach Scott Hartbarger said. "We concentrated our defense on stopping their inside game in the first half, and they hit some threes on us. We came out, and they got more from their inside game in the second half." |
