Erwin pounded Smoky Mountain 11-0 in a Mountain Athletic Conference baseball game on April 29 at the SM field. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule. "There weren't errors involved," Coach Ron Yount said. "It was just base hits. They hit some Texas leaguers and tomahawk chops. The wind would be blowing out then we would come to bat and hit shots but the wind would be blowing in." Travis Murray allowed just two hits while walking two and striking out seven.

SM starter Jared Day took the loss.
Jordan Hotchkiss was three of three for the Warriors. Andrew Rogers and Drew Shook both had two hits. Day retired the first five men he faced before running into trouble. D.J. Rice walked, Hotchkiss singled and Drew Shook had an RBI double. Garrett Twiss blasted a three-run homer for a 4-0 lead. Rice walked again in the third and scored on a wild pitch after Hotchkiss singled for a 5-0 advantage. Erwin broke the game open with six runs in the fourth. Rogers singled, Jesse Swain walked and David Shelton had an RBI single. A wild pitch allowed a run to cross the plate, and Landon Ford delivered an RBI single. Following a base hit by Jacob King, Hotchkiss delivered a two-run double. Shook singled in the game's final run. The Mustangs had some chances to score but failed to cash in. Day walked in the first and stole second and third before being stranded. Steven Karby singled and stole a base in the second, but the next three batters struck out. Day tripled in the third but was left on base. The Mustang JVs rolled to a 19-8 win at Erwin. Nathan Crowe was five of five at the plate. Ben Blakley was four of five while Jordan Beck was three of four and Zack West was two of three. Blakley and West both homered with a man on base. Blakley pitched the first 4.1 innings for the win, and Tyson Crawford finished on the mound. "It was a total team effort," Coach Aaron Tuttle said. "We were 24 of 39 at the plate. The defensive play was excellent as we only had two errors. This is the Smoky Mountain team I know can play every day. We showed our true potential."
