Stamp out hunger

Stamp-out Residents with mailboxes can begin leaving canned goods and non-perishables Monday, May 5, for the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Saturday, May 10, has been designated as the official Stamp Out Hunger Day, but letter carrier Joe Wolfe said it is easier on postal employees to collect donations throughout the week rather than be loaded down all in one day. Donations will be distributed to the Community Table and to United Christian Ministries. "None of it leaves the county," stressed Wolfe, who said sponsoring this event is the post office's way of contributing back to the community. Residents with post office boxes can leave donations at the front window.
