Water, sewer rates to increase by 10 percentBy Rose HooperA 10 percent rate increase has been included in the Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority's budget for 2002-03.The increase, which was included in the $2.3 million budget, was approved Tuesday following a public hearing during which no one spoke. Next year's revenue projections include sewer, $1,375,586; sewer impact fees, $45,000; water, $790,000; reconnect fees, $2,000; water impact fees, $29,000; state sales tax reimbursement, $13,390; investment earnings (operations), $2,500; investment earnings (fund balance), $25,000; fuel tax refund, $1,100; late fees, $17,000; for a total of $2,301,976. Projected expenditures include administration, $657,384; water, $389,899; maintenance, $665,977; sewer, $464,110; and fund balance transfer, $124,606; for a total of $2,301,976. The major capital outlay item in the budget is a standby power project at $240,000. In presenting the budget, TWSA Chairman Mickey Luker said the last rate increase was in 1998. The 10 percent rate increase will take affect in July and will be reflected on bills received in August, Luker said.
