It's time once again for area photographers to ready their submissions for this newspaper's annual spring photo contest.
Readers are invited to submit photos to The Sylva Herald's fifth "Mountain Spring" photography contest. Some of the best - including those selected to be the first-, second-, and third-place winners - will be displayed during Sylva's "Greening Up the Mountains" festival on Saturday, April 27. Winners will also be published in the newspaper in the weeks following the festival. Submitted photographs should be in color and must be taken by the entrant. Photos may have been any year, not necessarily this spring. Participants may enter up to two pictures in the contest. Submitted photos must be at least 5 by 7 inches in size; smaller photographs will be disqualified. Pictures may be mounted or unmounted, but may not be framed. An entry form must be attached to the back of each photograph. Contest photos may not be computer enhanced. All photos should reflect the contest's theme, "Mountain Spring," and should be outdoor scenes displaying the beauty of spring. Preference will be given to photos taken in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Deadline for photo contest entries is Thursday, April 18, at 5 p.m. Complete rules and entry forms will be available both at The Sylva Herald's Main Street office and online www.thesylvaherald.com beginning Monday, March 25. For additional information, call the newspaper office at 586-2611 or email us at news@thesylvaherald.com. |
