Retiring librarian

Jeanette Newsom, right, head librarian of the Jackson County Public Library for the past 25 years, will retire Dec. 22. On behalf of the Sylva Town Board, Mayor Brenda Oliver presented Newsom with a plaque to commemorate her years of service. "We owe Jeanette a great deal of gratitude," Oliver said.
