Family needed for Habitat home

Chris Myers "It's really a beautiful spot," Chris Myers, vice president of Jackson County Habitat For Humanity, says as he points to where a new Habitat house will be built on Hampton Road in Sylva. The non-profit ministry is recruiting the next Habitat family to "partner" in building a home there. Interested families should attend a meeting Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on N.C. 107 between Sylva and Cullowhee. Families should currently be living in substandard or inadequate housing or expect to lose their current home. The selected family may not be able to obtain conventional home financing, but should have sufficient income to afford monthly payments and other costs associated with Habitat home ownership.
Habitat home payments range from $250 to $400 per month. For more information, call 293-0271. - Herald photo by Rose Hooper
