Michele McCormick of Sylva took third place in The Sylva Herald's sixth annual "Mountain Spring" photo contest with this shot of a trout lily blooming in Pinnacle Park. Other winners are Ron Waldrop of Dills Branch, first; Nick Breedlove of Sylva, second; and Joan O'Hara of Sylva and Doris Threadgill of Whittier, honorable mention. This year's contest was judged by Ray Menze of Cullowhee, president of the Jackson County Visual Arts Society, and winners were announced during Sylva's April 26 Greening Up the Mountains festival. |
