Officers from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office acted upon an anonymous tip from a citizen April 18 and were able to seize contraband, including 193 marijuana plants, various marijuana production items, approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, according to Sheriff Jim Cruzan. Charles Howard Brooks, age 30, of Cullowhee, was charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing marijuana; possession of a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of selling/delivering; felony possession of schedule II controlled substance; manufacturing marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia.
