Pamela Dengler of Sylva took second place in The Sylva Herald's fifth "Mountain Spring" photo contest with this shot titled "Spring Takes a Break." Other winners were Nick Breedlove of Sylva, first, and Theresa Gonzalez of Cullowhee, third. Honorable mention went to Jeannie Threadgill of Whittier, Bonnie Rowe of Waynesville, Judy Quealy of Balsam and Rhonda Blanton of Franklin. Winners were announced during Sylva's April 27 Greening Up the Mountains downtown festival. Cliff Blakely of Cullowhee was this year's contest judge.
