"Spring in the Smokies" by Velvet Messer of Sylva took second place in The Sylva Herald's recent Mountain Spring photo contest. Other winners included Anne Jones of Webster, first; Richard Heitzenrater of Sylva, third; D.J. Threadgill of Whittier, fourth; and Herb Zachmann of Sylva, fifth. Entries were displayed and winners announced during the April 28 Greening Up the Mountains festival. Perry Kelly, president of the Jackson County Arts Council, was this year's judge. |
