Nine-year-old Bailey Simpson, a member of Dona West's Life Skills Class at Cullowhee Valley, helps replant flower beds outside her classroom as part of an annual schoolwide effort to clean and beautify the campus. In addition to refurbishing existing plantings, students in the Life Skills program picked up litter and packed their picnic lunches in recyclable containers as part of their effort to improve the environment. Bailey is the daughter of Grace Simpson of Sylva.
