Hosting a three team swim meet June 24, the Jackson County girls
and boys defeated PEAK of Asheville and Graham County.
Each team fielded 30-36 swimmers. The final scores
were: Jackson girls 191 and boys 129, PEAK girls 158 and boys
113 and Graham girls 92 and boys 111.
One of the highlights of the evening was Paige
Seago setting a pool record in the 9-10 year old girl's 50 breaststroke.
"I was very impressed with Adam Melrose's swim in the butterfly
leg of the 13-14 boys medley relay," Coach Jim McCabe said.
"
Adam gave it all he could." Melrose is in his
first season with the team.
Coach McCabe also noted that Corey Smith, Megan
McGufficke, Paul Heckert and Pierce Isley had an excellent meet
qualifying for all-stars in each of their events.
Finishing in the top five for Jackson County
were with * denoting a qualifying times for the all-star meet
set for July 26 in Hendersonville.
