Construction on South River Road

Progress continued this week on improvements to South River Road along the Tuckaseigee River in Webster. Crews from contractor DeSoto Trail of Franklin are in the process of cutting and filling to widen the road to two lanes in preparation for paving, said Jonathan Woodard, county maintenance engineer for the N.C. Department of Transportation. It will likely be this time next year before any asphalt is put down, Woodard said. South River Road is about 1 mile long and connects N.C. 107 and N.C. 116. – Herald photo by Kelly Timco
