Sylva celebrates patriotic Christmas

Uncle Sam Vets
Living up to this year's patriotic theme, Uncle Sam rode a bicycle down Main Street Tuesday night during Sylva's annual Christmas Parade. World War II veterans served as grand marshals, and the largest crowd in recent years lined up to watch. One of Jackson County's oldest World War II veterans, Joe Middleton, 92, (Below) was grand marshal during Sylva's annual Christmas parade Tuesday. Vern Schutters drove Middleton in style in a 1957 Ford Country Classic station wagon owned by C.B. Hart. Parade organizer Betty Foxx was pleased with this year's event and expressed her thanks to all who helped. Some 75 entries made this parade one of the largest in recent years, said Foxx. - All photos courtesy of Livingston Kelley
